Damian Swann Names Top 5

Damian Swann has been one of the most sought after recruits in the state of Georgia this year. Currently he holds offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas Tech, USC, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Of these 14 schools nine of them got some bad news recently as Swann named a top five. The five schools that were named are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Virginia Tech and Ohio State. Swann has not named a leader yet though within his top five.

Georgia could have an advantage over the other schools, since Swann is a fan of current Bulldog Branden Smith, who he played against in high school, and he has stated a few times that he went back and forth between Georgia and Georgia Tech as his favorite college teams. Swann was able to make it down to an earlier Junior Day ea;rlier this year, but has not been able to visit Georgia again due to his track and baseball schedule this spring. Hopefully, though Swann is hoping to make it down for the G-Day game.

Bulldogs Going After Cedar Grove Receiver

It is no secret that the Bulldogs are really thin in the receiver position this year, which is why the coaching staff is going after quite a few receivers for next year's recruiting class. Vincent Dallas's name is starting to emerge as one of the top five recievers in the state of Georgia. Dallas is a 6' 0" 180 lb WR out of Cedar Grove HS in Ellenwood, GA. UGASports.com recently caught up with Dallas and asked him about his recruiting "I have offers from Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Mississippi St., Nebraska, Indiana, Minnesota, N.C. State, and UCF so far, Georgia,Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Auburn, Georgia Tech and a few other schools are recruiting me hard as well. I do not have any visits set up yet, but I hope to check out UCF, Ole Miss and Georgia soon." To read the entire interview click on the link.

Dallas has a current Georgia Bulldog, Branden Smith, wanting him to commit to Georgia and has been talking to the coaching staff about offering the reciever. Dallas views himself as a big time playmaker that has the skill set to compete with AJ Green and Calvin Johnson. Dallas is planning on making his commitment before his senior year.

Bulldogs Offer Athlete Devin Bowman

Devin Bowman got the offer that he has been waiting for when Mark Richt called him and gave him the news Tuesday. 

"Coach Richt spoke to me on the phone today and offered me personally, This is the big one I have been waiting for and I am really excited. Georgia is my leader now for sure."

Bowman is listed as a running back but the Bulldogs are more interested in moving him to the CB position. With his 6'0" 175lb frame and being able to run a 4.49 40 he should  make for an excellent corner. All signs right now point to that Coach Scott Lakatos wants his corners to be on the taller side. Bowman had this to say about the switch:

"Georgia wants me as a corner in their new 3-4 defense, they also want me to touch the ball on offense some like they did with Branden Smith this year. I am just so excited about it this offer."

Bowman is supposed to be in attendance for the Bulldogs Junior Day this weekend. I will be providing all the players that will be attendance as soon as they are available.

UGA Could Land Top Safety out of GA

Damien Swann, 4 Star S, out of Grady HS in Atlanta has UGA in his top two right now. Alabama had been the clear cut frontrunner for a while but the Bulldogs have been coming on strong lately. Swann had this to say about the situation:

"Alabama is still that top school because they came around first and they were in my face every chance they get. But now that Georgia is showing me that same attention I am really looking at them in the same way. They are neck and neck right now, and Florida is coming on too."

Swann would be a huge pick-up for the Bulldogs 2011 class. The Bulldogs have two people, Branden Smith and now Zach Witchett,  working for them to help Swann make the right choice and join the Bulldogs 2011 class. Swann had this to say about each one:

 "I played against Branden Smith at Washington my sophomore year, and I hung out with him a couple weeks ago at the Junior Day. Branden did not try to pressure me to join him at Georgia, he just said to follow my heart and go with that. He told me he knew he had every option he wanted, and he said he knew Georgia was for him because of how they explained they would use him"

"Zach is one of my childhood friends, and we have been thinking about playing college ball together for a long time, so now we just might."

Zach Witchett received his offer this morning from UGA and all arrows seem to point that Wichett will give a verbal to Georgia sooner than later.

Swann is not sure yet when he will make a decision, as more and more offers keep pouring in for him. As of right now he has offers from Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas Tech and Virigina Tech.

Bulldogs Offer Washington WR

The Georgia Bulldogs sent an offer to Washington HS WR Zach Witchett this past week. Witchett is known as one of the fastest players in the southeast running a 4.4 40 yard dash. Witchett was expecting to receive an offer from UGA at their Junior Day this weekend but when he went to his mailbox there it was. Two former Washington players played for Georgia last season and showed Witchett around when the Bulldogs played Auburn last season. He really like both players:

 "I know Branden Smith and Reshad Jones since they are both from my neighborhood. Reshad was a friend of my brother and he used to come to my little league game and give me positive advice. I really looked up to him and I used to come watch him play here. Branden used to help me improve as a player in practice, and he never let up on me."

Witchett is a lock I believe to be Bulldog. After he made this comment:

"Georgia was the first college I ever saw play, and I had already had my heart and mind set on wanting to go there. So for them to already be my number one team and then offer me, that just makes it even better."

The 2011 class is going to be a top #5 class I truly believe.
