UGA Recruits at the Tampa 7 vs 7

Over the weekend some of the best prospects in Florida were on hand to show what they have to offer to college scouts at the Badger Sport 7 vs 7 Tournament in Tampa, FL. Some of the recruits that were on hand are being recruited heavily by the Bulldogs. Here is what Chad Simmons of Scout.com had to say about the Georgia recruits

Brandon Fulse: Tampa Evaluation: While Fulse is still likely to end up on the defensive or offensive line when he gets to the next level, he showed over the weekend that if a school wants him to play tight end, he could do well there too. He is a very athletic big man with soft hands. He dropped the very first pass thrown to him on Saturday afternoon, but his hands were like glue the rest of the tournament. He always caught the ball well away from his body with his big hands, he really used his body to shield defenders well, and he scored a number of touchdowns. He is not an Orson Charles type at tight end, but he could definitely that position on the next level.

Nick O'Leary: Tampa Evaluation: There is no question that O’Leary is one of the top overall prospects in the country. He is not the big 6-foot-6 tight end, but he is everything else. I have seen him play live in full pads and he is extremely impressive there and he was maybe a bit more impressive in the shorts and t-shirt over the weekend. His body control, his explosiveness, his hands, his route running, his ability to go up and get a ball, and just his play-making ability make him a legit five-star candidate. He is right around 6-foot-3, maybe 6-foot-4, but other than that, there are no knocks on O’Leary. He will play early on the next level no matter where he goes.

Nick Waisome: Tampa Evaluation: There were a number of solid corners at this event, but the one that probably stood out the most when out there on an island matched up against receivers was Waisome. He looks very comfortable at corner and although he had some issues with the bigger receivers, he showed he could run with just about anyone. He was the most sound corner there from his back peddle, to change of direction, to quickness out of breaks, to reading the play. He still needs to get stronger and add some more weight, but his skill set at cornerback is legit.

Bulldogs offer Waisome

The Bulldogs offered Nick Waisome, 4 star CB, out of South Lake HS, FL yesterday. Waisome is 5' 10" 170lb CB that has offers from Arizona, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, N.C. State, South Carolina, Stanford, and UCF. The Bulldogs have had Waisome on their radar since November and finally decided to pull the trigger with an offer. Coach Brian McClendon and Coach Scott Lakatos have been recruiting Waisome. Waisome had this to say about the two coaches:

"Coach McClendon seems really cool, and he really wants me to get up to Athens. Coach Lakatos said he loved my film, and he said I had some qualities that will allow me to get on the field. I call them once a week to update them on my status, Coach Lakatos said I am exactly what he is looking for. He wants to moves guys around in the defensive line, and they feel a lot safer if they can keep their defensive backs close to the line,"

The Bulldogs are extremely short on corners right now and Waisome will have a very good chance at playing his freshman year and he knows this:

"Georgia is low on corners going into next season. They said they need top level corners, and I fit what they are looking for," said Waisome.

Most people think that he is a Florida lock since he has grown up a Gator fan. With the gators signing 5 DB this past class and bringing back 5 CB from their current roster, Waisome would have to think that he has a lot better chance at early playing time with the Bulldogs. He would be a huge pickup for the Dawgs.
