Bulldogs Out Of Running For Daniel?

With the recent circumstances surrounding Montez Robinson one would have to wonder if the Bulldogs are totally out of the running for Armonze Daniel. Daniel recently spent most of his spring break in Athens visiting his brother Robinson and spending time with the coaches and players. He recently stated that his brother would play a big part in his recruitment. Daniel does not yet have an offer from the Bulldogs.

With the dismissal of Robinson from the Bulldogs, fans now can start to wonder. Will the Bulldogs even offer Daniel? If he does get an offer will he even consider it? Does he view the Bulldogs as turning their back on Robinson? Does he understand that coach Richt had no other choice at this point?

Mark Richt recently visited Robinson in jail and stated that the player was struggling with the situation. Robinson's most recent arrest was his third in six months and the final straw in regards to his tenure as a Bulldog. Robinson gave Richt no choice with him most recent arrest, termination from the team was the only option at this point. One can only hope that Daniel view's Georgia as trying to help Robinson and not throwing him to the curb.

Longhorns Land 20th Commitment of 2011

The Texas Longhorns landed their 20th commitment yesterday. YES, that is not a mistype I did say their 20th. What I am really intrigued about in regards to this commitment is not that the Longhorns landed their third 5 star recruit, but this was their first recruit from outside the state of Texas. Mack Brown has his home territory on total lockdown, the only other school that can really pull big time recruits away from Brown is Oklahoma. Of the top 5 recruits in Texas, three have already commited to Texas while the other two have not committed yet.

From looking at the Texas offer sheet their are only 9 more players that currently have offers who have not committed to a school. Three of these are from out-of-state, if you are coach this makes recruiting a lot easier as you can put all your resources towards these 9 players.

Recruits On Campus Today

It is being reported by UGASports.com that three recruits were on campus today. Christian LeMay, Chris Conley and Jay Rome were all in attendance. LeMay is the #2 QB nationally and Rome is the #1 TE nationally according to Scout.com. These two recruits along Conley who is a GA Top 50 recruit would really excel the Bulldogs towards the top of the recruiting ranks.

Bulldogs Offer Another Jersey Boy

The Bulldogs could be starting a pipeline into New Jersey shortly. They already have two former Bulldogs from The Garden State, Knowshon Moreno and Kade Weston, and now have offered their second New Jersey Boy this year. Savon Huggins will join Marquise Wright as the only two players from Jersey to recieve official offers from the Bulldogs.

Huggins is a 6'0" 190 lb RB out of St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City, NJ that runs 4.5 40 and is ranked as the #7 RB nationally according to Scout.com. Huggins currently has offers from 24 different schools. Georgia was the sixth SEC school to offer, joining Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee. Huggins is a lock for the Rivals100 which should be out pretty soon as the Rivals250 is out already.

Huggins was on campus all day Thursday and got to see everything but the weight room, however he did get a chance to see the blueprints for the new facility that will be open for his freshman year. The highlight of Huggins trip to Athens was when he received his official offer from Coach Richt in person. Huggins came away extremely impressed with Athens and with Coach Richt, as he stated that Coach Richt did not make him any "false promises" but told him he would have to work everything.

Huggins has stated that he does not plan to make decision until signing day. Huggins is  planning on narrowing down to a top 5 or top 8 by the end of summer. I feel pretty confident that the Bulldogs will make the cut.

GA WR Names Leader

Justin Scott currently has offers from East Carolina, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Stanford, South Carolina and Wake Forest. Rivals.com recently caught up with Justin Scott and talked to him about his recruiting.  Currently, Scott has named Georgia his leader.

Scott at one point had been committed to Stanford but went back on his commitment on Feb 21st.  The Bulldogs were the first team to offer Scott back in August. I would not be surprised to see Scott in Athens this weekend for G-Day.

Montez Robinson Charged With Simple Battery

Mark Richt and the Bulldog coaching staff got some bad news today as Montez Robinson turned himself in to the Athens-Clarke County Police on simple battery charges. This is the third time that Robinson has had a run in with the law in the past 5 months.

Robinson's future with the Bulldogs is uncertain at this time. Mark Richt has not released a statement yet.

Where Do UGA Players Come From?

I have been curious if their is a certain area where our best recruits come from. So I started doing some research on the subject and pulled up all of our commitment classes from 2002-2010. Between 2002 and 2010 Georgia signed 200 recruits. I have seperated all this classes into 5 catergories:

The 1st category is out-of-state players.
The 2nd category is Atlanta players, this includes all players within the perimeter of I-285.
The 3rd category is west Georgia, this includes all players west of I-75.
The 4th category is NE Georgia, this includes all players north of I-20 and east of I-75.
The 5th category is SE Georgia, this includes all players south of I-20 and east of I-75.

To look at this overall, we can determine that 1/3 of our team comes from out of state players, we recruit pretty well throughout the entire state of GA with a slight majority coming from the NE of Georgia. Of all 200 players 57% of them are either 4 or 5 star recruits and 96.5% are 3,4 or 5 star recruits. We might have only gotten 12 players from ATL but 76.6% are 4 or 5 star recruits. SE Georgia is where we bring in the highest percent of 4 Star recruits at an outstanding 67.5 % and W Georgia is where we bring in the big time talent with 16.7 % of those recruits being 5 star guys.

Top GA RB to attend G-Day?

With the annual spring G-Day game just around the corner, the Bulldogs will be recruiting heavily to get as many recruits as possible in attendance. Quan Bray of Callaway HS in Hogansville, GA is going to try and be in attendance for the game. This would be a good step towards trying to sign this elite RB as he is being recruited heavily by Georgia, Clemson, Alabama and Tennessee.

With Bray being from the state of Georgia this could be a huge factor for the Bulldogs and work towards their advantage. Bray is seriously considering staying in-state, so his family will be able to easily attend his games. Bray is also a fan of how the Bulldogs are known for producing NFL caliber backs year end and year out.

Personally I think that it will come down to Georgia and Clemson for Bray. Clemson the past few years have shown how they will work their offense around a small slash style back, in C.J. Spiller. Bray has stated that he models himself after Spiller, so it only fits for him to seriously consider attending Clemson. Alabama does not run an offense that really compliments a speed back and Tennessee with their new coach is trying to find an identity. I believe that both Bama and the Vols will stay in the race but they will never be seriously considered.
