Conley Commits to Bulldogs

Rumors had been circulating after last weekend that Chris Conley was closing in on making his commitment. Conely announced through his his high school coach Heath Webb that he would verbally commiting to the University of Georgia. Conley chose the Bulldogs over Alabama, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. Conley had this to say about his recruitment "Today my family and I are ending my recruitment. This decision was reached through much traveling and research but ultimately prayer. Through all of this, I have come to decide that I will be attending the University of Georgia." Conley will be a great addition to what is already looking like an oustanding class for 2011.

Dantzler Not Going to Commit Until November

Watts Dantzler has made many trips to Athens recently but this did not keep him from visiting for G-Day this past weekend. Dantzler is currently rated as the #20 OT in the country by Scout.com and his stock should only rise as his senior year approaches. Dantzler did learn one thing this past weekend he is becoming a well known face on Georgia's campus and this is not just with the coaches. Dantzler was surprised when he was walking around during the game and shouts started coming from the stands asking Dantzler when he was going to commit. Dantzler had a chance to meet some of the Georgia fans and was overwhelmed that they knew who is was.

Dantzler named a top a five recently which included Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Many people believe that the Bulldogs are in the lead by a pretty good margin, especially since Dantzler grew up a Bulldog fan. Rumors have been circulating that Danzter has been recruiting for the Bulldogs when he is on campus, one would have to wonder if this makes him a "silent commit". Their is nothing to back these claims up they are just rumors. Dantzler is really enjoying the recruiting process and taking his visits to all the different campuses around the south. He has stated on numerous occasions that he plans to verbally commit on his birthday, November 16th. I personally would be extremely surprised to see Dantzler in any uniform except a Georgia one.

Bulldogs in Lead For Ridgeland Athlete

One of the fastest rising stars in the state of Georgia was in town for G-Day this past weekend. Devin Bowman made his first trip to the University of Georgia and was greeted by none other then Head Coach Mark Richt. Bowman comes from a line of division one talent as his two brothers both play for D-1 schools, Adarius Bowman (Oklahoma State) and Micheal Bowman (Alabama). Bowman has been making a name for himself throughout the state of Georgia and currently has offers from Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Notre Dame and Oklahoma State. Bowman has been gaining a lot of interest from Alabama and expects them to offer soon.

Bowman came away really impressed with the Bulldogs and enjoyed the one-on-one time he had with coach Richt when he rode with Richt over to the G-Day game in his truck. Bowman and Richt had a chance to talk about football, academics, and why Georgia wants Bowman. Bowman has stated the only other school that will compete with them for him is Alabama, but the Tide has not offered yet. Currently Bowman has stated that the Bulldogs are in the lead.

Bowman has became a fan of current Bulldog Brandon Boykin and spend most of the game watching him, but he paid attention to the offense as well, as he does not know for certain where the Bulldogs would play him. Most people think Bowman would play corner for Georgia and with him coming in at 6-0 you know that makes coach Lakatos happy.

A bunch of teams gained points due to Scout.com giving out more stars to players when they released their top 300 this week. Florida also jumped 2 spots when they received a verbal commitment from Jeoffrey Pagan.

Gators Land 4 Star DE

Urban Meyer and the Gators received some great news on Friday as Jeoffrey Pagan, 4 Star DE out of Asheville, HS in Asheville, NC verbally commited to them. Pagan had been in attendance for the Florida spring game but decided to let the Florida coaching staff know of his commitment before the game. Pagan informed Meyer of his decision Friday night.

Georgia in Top 5 For Bailey

Sterling Bailey was in attendance this weekend for the annual G-Day game and came away very impressed with the Bulldogs. Bailey is playing DE for East Hall HS but coach Todd Grantham feels he would play as an outside backer in the Bulldogs new 3-4 scheme. With Gainesville, GA being only short drive Athens Bailey has had a chance to make numerous trips down to Athens already.

Bailey had a chance to hangout with current commits Amarlo Herrera, Corey Moore and David Andrews. All  three have been heavily recruiting for the Bulldogs every chance they get and this weekend was no exception, with Bailey getting an ear full from all three about how much they want him to join them in Athens.

Bailey stated that currently Georgia is in his top five, but will be taking in the A-Day game at Alabama and the Georgia Tech spring game as well. Bailey is currently under consideration for the Under Armour and Army All-American Game.

Bulldogs Offer California QB

Mark Richt decided today to inform Max Wittek, 4 star QB, out of Mater Dai HS in Santa Anna, CA that the Bulldogs want him to join their program. Wittek currently holds offers from at least 15 schools, with the majority of these coming from PAC-10 schools. Georgia joined Florida and South Carolina as the only SEC schools to offer this Top 20 QB.

Wittek is a pro-style QB that looks to pass first rather than make a plan with his legs. He would prefer to stay with a pro-style offense in college, like his very close friend Trojan QB Matt Barkley. Wittek is looking to commit before the start of his senior year, but as of now does not have any favorites. Wittek was in Athens this week.

Bulldogs Gain Steam With Tuitt

The Georgia Bulldogs hosted one the top defensive end's in the state today, in Stephon Tuitt. Tuitt spent all day with his mother in Athens taking in everything that Georgia has to offer. Tuitt has been considered a Georgia Tech lean since the start of reruiting but Georgia evened the playing fields after today.

Tuitt and his mother took in the academic side of Georgia before heading down to watch the team practice. They were both able to sit down and speak with an academic advisor who explained to Tuitt that he would be able to graduate in three and half years if he desired. Tuitt is not just looking to only play football but really take in everything the university has to offer from an academic standpoint.

With Georgia and Georgia Tech both running a 3-4 defense, it will not be where he feels he fits best but more where can he receive a quality education. Tuitt feels with his size and quickness he will be able to play either DE or OLB at the next level. 

Coach Mark Richt and coach Todd Grantham explained to Tuitt that Georgia is only offering recruits that they feel will be able to make an immediate impact on the field and compete for a starting position. Tuitt strongly believes that he is more than capable of doing this.

Rumors had been spreading that Tuitt would be commiting sooner than later but with this most recent visit to Athens, Tuitt has decided to hold off on committing and is looking forward to taking his official visits in the fall.

Jay Rome Loved Athens

Jay Rome decided to visit Athens before the G-Day game this weekend this was probably a very good idea as he got the coaching staff's full attention on Tuesday. Rome really enjoyed his visit and had this to say about the Bulldogs "Georgia has really impressed me when I have been up there." Rome was initially favoring Clemson, which many believed was due to his father being a player there. However, recently Rome has stated on numerous occasions that he does not a leader. 


Rome had chance to see the academic buildings, athletic facilities and attended practice. It was at practice where he saw Orson Charles and came away extremely impressed with the first year Bulldog. With the Bulldogs always relying on their tight ends and sending quite a few to the next level, one can one wonder why Rome wouldn't make the Bulldogs one of his favorites. 


The coach that has been recruiting Rome the hardest is coach Richt and they were able to get plenty of one on one time on Tuesday. Rome is really able to talk to coach Richt and this trip further sealed a bond between the two.
