Junior Day Update

Kipp Adams from Rivals.com is reporting that Devin Bowman was not able to make it to Athens this weekend because his mother had to work. Bowman will be contacting the Georgia coaching staff today to reschedule his visit to Athens. Damian Swann also is not at Junior Day due to a baseball game that he is playing.

There are two additions to the Junior Day list. Jeff Greene, 1 star WR, out of Sierra Mills HS, GA and Thomas O'Reilly, 3 star G, out of Pope HS, GA are in Athens. Greene would be great addition to our redzone offense as he stand 6'6". O'Reilly is on the GA Top 50 list and has a high interest in Georgia Tech right now, hopefully Mark Richt and the coaching staff can sway him away GT.

Garrison Smith and Ken Malcome are in attendance for Junior Day as well. Malcome is stating that his mission is to get Gabe Wright to commit to UGA.

Corey Moore, Chris Sanders and Amarlo Herrera have been in the side by side with Xzavier Dickson for the trip with David Andrews spending most of his time with Watts Dantzler.

Come'on boys lets go get'em

Carver Boys Coming to Junior Day

All sources are saying that the #1 recruit in GA, running back Isaiah Crowell, and the #6 recruit in GA, defensive tackle Gabriel Wright, will be in attendance for Junior Day this weekend in Athens. Everything you hear about these two outstanding players is that they are going to a package deal.

Crowell some experts are saying is the best RB to come out of GA in the last 10 years. His speed and quickness is unmatched in high school. He weighs in at 190lb right now so he can not only out run you but if you do catch up to him most likely he will run right through you.

Wright comes in at 6'3" 273lbs right now as a junior. He would be terrific one-gap NT for the Dawgs in their newly established 3-4. He has incredible speed and quickness for someone of his size. From watching his game film he is also very disciplined and plays assignments football.

All four current commits, Corey Moore, David Andrews, Chris Sanders and Amarlo Herrera will be in attendance as well. It never hurts when you have four guys that are totally committed to UGA talking to them all weekend and pitching how great it will be to all play together.

As more information comes about who else will be in attendance this weekend I will let you know.

Bulldogs Lose Karlos Williams

Karlos Williams the #4 ranked safety nationally gave a solid verbal commitment to Florida State today. This was not a big surprise due to that Williams brother Vince is on the current Seminole roster.

The Bulldogs already have two safety commits in Corey Moore and Chris Sanders. Mark Richt is looking at trying to pick up one more in the 2011 class with Damian Swann of Atlanta.

A New Recruiting Year Begins

Now that National Signing Day has come and past we can do two things:

1. Look at our recruiting class and not be happy with who we landed. While, we dwell on the fact that we missed on this guy and we missed on that guy.

2. We can be happy with the class that we have which is full of guys that wanted to play for the Dawgs and will give their all everyday.

Personally I would prefer to do the latter. Everyone needs to remember that the day after National Signing Day 2010 is the first day of major recruiting for our 2011 class. Georgia already has two commitments from two recruits in the state of UGA. As of right now these two recruits are 3 Star guys but it would not surprise me if at least one of them., Chis Sanders, is a 4 Star by the fall. UGA has put out more offers to in-state recruits at this point then ever before. This is the reason why we have these two recruits already committed, I can not remember the last time we had two guys committed this early in the recruiting period. Coach Todd Grantham has stated:

"Over the last 11 years, I’ve evaluated a lot of players from this state, and I’ve always believed that if we took the best players in the state of Georgia and within a five-hour radius of our school, if they come to the University of Georgia, we can win the SEC championship and compete for a national title, I think you can be better than Florida, you can be better than Texas, and you can be better than Southern Cal if those players come to Georgia.”

Grantham truly believes this statement, which is one of the reason why UGA has offered so many recruits already. You can quote me on this, UGA will have a top 5 class next year with the majority of our recruits coming in state. ESPN showed a map last night of where the ESPN 150 recruits come from, Georgia was #4 on this list behind California, Texas and Florida. University of Texas every year fields a majority of their team from in-state players. Their is no reason why UGA should not be able to this. All we have to do is keep these kids in the state they grew up in and know so well. From looking at all the juniors right now in the state of Georgia this will be one of the best classes to ever come out of UGA.

Hopefully this year though we will not a any certain rich father, he will remain nameless for now,  trying to get his 3rd string QB son a scholarship and steal a player from UGA. Personally, I think it was for the best that we lost Rogers. The more research I do it sounds like he had no work ethis and some character issues. I will have a full writeup when I complete my research

Georgia Gets Two 2011 Commits

On the first Junior Day for the Bulldogs this year they got some very good news as two of the recruits on campus committed today, with a third that needs to talk it over with his family before he officially commits. The two recruits that commited today are:

Chris Sanders: S 4 Star Tucker High School; 6'0 176 lbs ESPN 150

Corey Moore: S 3 Star Griffin High School; 6'0" 180 lbs

This is a great start for the Bulldogs with their 2011 class. The state of Georgia has one of the best recruiting classes they have had in years next year. The Bulldogs need to do everything they can to keep these recruits in state and out of the hands of Alabama and Florida.
