Georgia Lands Nick Marshall

Georgia received a verbal commitment from Nick Marshall late Tuesday night. Marshall is a two sport star that has been recruited by both Coach Fox and Coach Richt. Many people believed that Marhsall was a silent commit to Georgia Tech, if this was true Marshall has changed his mind as he went public with his commitment to Georgia.

Marshall is a quarterback in high school but will be lining up in secondary at corner back for the Bulldogs. With Marshall coming in at 6'2" he is the ideal corner that secondary coach Scott Lakatos has been saying he wants.

Marshall Names Top 3

Two sport star Nick Marshall has been receiving offers from schools for basketball and football for the past year with some schools offering him for both. Marshall has been drawing comparison's to Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward of Florida State, which is probably no surprise to learn that Florida State is one of the school offering him. Kipp Adams from UGASports.com recently caught up with Marshall and asked him about his recruiting and who might be the top schools right now "Georgia, Florida State and Georgia Tech are my main schools right now. They are all the same right now, I don't have a leader from those three schools," he said. "I am planning on making some visits to get a good feel for the schools, and if I feel comfortable, I plan to make my decision in June." To read the full interview please click on the link.

Marshall will be in Athens for the annual G-Day game in a few weeks. Mark Richt and the staff recently attended one of Marshall's basketball games, which really impressed Marshall. Marshall is best friends with current Georgia commit Lonnie Outlaw. Outlaw will be attending Georgia Military College this fall before enrolling in Georgia hopefully next year. This could be great news for the Bulldogs as Outlaw and Marshall would have a chance to enroll at UGA together.

Bulldogs Might Have Advantage with Nick Marshall

Nick Marshall is the #7 ranked player in the state of GA according to Rivals.com. Marshall currently is holding scholarships from Florida State, Georgia Tech, Georgia and Vanderbilt. Marshall is a two sport athlete holding scholarships in basketball to all those schools as well. The Bulldogs were the first team to offer him a football scholarship.

After watching the game film on Marshall most people would see that he has a strong arm with pretty good accuracy. The biggest thing that you will notice is his patience in the pocket and his ability to avoid the rush. Unlike most dual-threat QB's Marhsall does not take off at a full sprint when he is pressured he will either step-up, roll left or roll right just enough to avoid the pressure and complete the pass. This patience is huge when it comes to playing the QB position. The whole time he is moving in the pocket his eyes are always down field.

When it comes to trying to figure where Marshall is leaning nobody can shed any light on the subject. When Scout.com asked him about this he kept  his answers very short:

Scout: Do you have preferences in the schools that have initially offered?
Marshall: No sir. I’m staying wide open.
S: Did you have a childhood favorite growing up?
M: No sir.
S: Do you know what you’re looking for in a school?
M: No sir. Not yet.

The one area where the Bulldogs might have a huge advantage is that Marshall has a cousin that just signed with Georgia, Lonnie Outlaw. Outlaw will be attending Georgia Military College next year to get his grades up before enrolling in Georgia. This could possibly be a blessing in disguise for the Bulldogs as that would mean that Outlaw and Marshall would be enrolling at Georgia together.
