Dickson Names Top 5

Xzavier Dickson was in attendance this weekend at the NIKE Combine in Hallford Stadium in Clarkston, GA. Dickson had been hard to get a hold of since track season started as his father stopped all interviews to let his son concentrate on his track season. UGASports.com was able to get an exclusive interview with Dickson. Here is what Dickson had to say about his top 5:

Alabama: "I like the intensity and the coaching staff."

Georgia: "Same as Alabama, and they have a new defensive coordinator and I like how he presents himself and how he says I will fit in their system. I would play outside linebacker"

Georgia Tech: "They are pretty good too and they run a 3-4 too so I would play outside linebacker. I believe I could do pretty well in that."

Auburn: "They have a good defensive line coach and they like me at defensive end."

Florida: "They just have athletes and they are just good every year."

Dickson is currently being recruited by coach Todd Grantham and was in attendance for Georgia's most recent Junior Day, where he had a chance to talk with coach Mark Richt and watched the Bulldogs upset the Florida Gators on the hardcourt.

Dickson Does Have An Offer From Georgia

Contrary to what has been reported, Xzavier Dickson does have a written offer from The University of Georgia. Their have been reports that Dickson, his father and his coach have all stated that he did not have an offer from Georgia, but Kipp Adams from UGASports.com has looked into this deeper and is reporting that he does in fact have an offer. With Dickson in the middle of track season his father has stopped all interviews for the time being.

Xzavier Dickson is a DE out of Griffin HS in Griffin, GA and is ranked as the ninth best player in the state of GA. He currently has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, MTSU, Mississippi St., Purdue, South Carolina, and Texas Tech.

Junior Day Update

Kipp Adams from Rivals.com is reporting that Devin Bowman was not able to make it to Athens this weekend because his mother had to work. Bowman will be contacting the Georgia coaching staff today to reschedule his visit to Athens. Damian Swann also is not at Junior Day due to a baseball game that he is playing.

There are two additions to the Junior Day list. Jeff Greene, 1 star WR, out of Sierra Mills HS, GA and Thomas O'Reilly, 3 star G, out of Pope HS, GA are in Athens. Greene would be great addition to our redzone offense as he stand 6'6". O'Reilly is on the GA Top 50 list and has a high interest in Georgia Tech right now, hopefully Mark Richt and the coaching staff can sway him away GT.

Garrison Smith and Ken Malcome are in attendance for Junior Day as well. Malcome is stating that his mission is to get Gabe Wright to commit to UGA.

Corey Moore, Chris Sanders and Amarlo Herrera have been in the side by side with Xzavier Dickson for the trip with David Andrews spending most of his time with Watts Dantzler.

Come'on boys lets go get'em

Georgia gets 2011 Commitment

Georgia got some good news to start their week with OLB Amarlo Herrera of North Clayton HS College Park, GA  giving a verbal commitment to UGA this morning. Herrera had offers from Florida, GT, Oklahoma State, Ohio State and Mississippi. Herrera gave a silent verbal commitment to UGA at Junior Day two weeks ago but wanted to bring his family to UGA before going public. Herrera made these comments today about his recruitment and Georgia:

"They are my home team, and growing up in Georgia, you have to like them. There is no better school than Georgia, and since they were the best fit for me, I chose them. I always felt if I had an offer from Georgia, then that was where I would be going. When they came through with the offer, I spoke with my family about it, and we decided Georgia was the place for me. The coaches knew if I ever got the offer I would be going to Georgia. They were somewhat surprised when I chose them over Florida. I thought about them, but Coach Richt told me if I knew where I wanted to go, then to go ahead an decide."

These are the type of guys that UGA needs to be going after, guys that bleed red and black already. I am extremely happy that we got Herrera but it sounded like we had him all the time, all we had to was offer him. Herrera has stated that he is ready to help with recruitment and will be trying to get DE Xzavier Dickson to commit:

"Xzavier Dickson I am going to be in your ear. You have got to come to the University of Georgia"

GATA Herrara. That's all I have to say.
