Why is Florida so High in the ESPN Recruiting Rankings?

ESPN released their initial recruiting rankings earlier this week. Most of them seem pretty accurate with one major exception. Florida is ranked number 7 which makes no sense what so ever. Here is the top 10 for ESPN, I will use the formula I have been using for SEC and lets see how everything turns out.

1.   Texas             236 points
2.   LSU                118 points
3.   Alabama         120 points
4.   Oklahoma       144 points
5.   Ohio State      152 points
6.   Florida State    84 points
7.   Florida             44 points
8.   Georgia          100 points
9.   Auburn             64 points
10. USC                  68 points

So according to my system this is how the teams should stack up:

1.   Texas
2.   Oklahoma
3.   Ohio State
4.   Alabama
5.   LSU
6.   Georgia
7.   Florida State
8.   USC
9.   Auburn
10. Notre Dame

This really shows that ESPN heavily favors Florida. They only have four commits but are ranked in the top 10 nationally right now for recruiting, that is a little ridiculous.

Coach Richt is not winning, and with an unseasoned QB as in 2006 when we lost 4 games, and as in 2009 when we lost 5 games, we have an unseasoned QB now again 2010.

This year is not going to be great for Coach Richt according to anyone. 10-3 is the most positive I have seen with no one ranking us higher than # 19 (which is about 10-3, as we are # 19 over the last 4 years at 38-14.)

After this season we lose nearly all the 10 starters we have on offense this season, and we lose half the defense with 15 seniors and 4 juniors leaving after this season.

So, therefore, Coach Richt cannot expect a stellar 2011 season, either, now can he ?

29-6 Florida vs SEC the last 4 years
23-11 Alabama vs SEC the last 4 years
21-12 LSU vs SEC the last 4 years
20-12 Georgia vs SEC the last 4 years

In the SEC East, it looks even worse for us and better for Florida. A recruiting class can be BETTER than ours last season very easily, 2010. And, now for 2011, we have 1 sort of commitment at QB Christain LeMay. Is he the 4th unseasoned QB Coach Richt fields starting 2006 next season ?

19-1 Florida last 4 yrs vs SEC East
14-6 Tennessee last 4 yrs vs SEC East
10-10 Georgia last 4 yrs vs SEC East

If Florida has the best running back from the State of Georgia they added, when we needed him, and is ranked high in recruiting, they deserve it.

We don't.

Our offensive coaching staff was shut out in this state of Georgia in 2010 Signing Class.

There is every indication with the lousy WR we gave scholarship to Friday, that we will be shut out in-state on Offense again this season.

I see your point, but in terms of recruiting for the state of Georgia this year CMR and his staff have made Georgia their top priority. I feel confident that we land a top 10 class perhaps even a top 5.

I disagree though about the SEC east. The race for the east is wide open as Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and possibly South Carolina are all going to be starting unseasoned QB's next year. At least in Georgia's case we have King and Easley to put the brunt of offense on, plus with arguably the nation's top WR to throw to, I see Murray having a decent year. He will make bad throws but every new QB does. We just need him to not lose games for us like Cox did last year. Run first and pass second.
