Tebow Invited to New York For Draft, Really?

On Wednesday Tim Tebow unvieled his new throwing motion to the world in front of NFL coaches and scouts. According to numerous scouts, most were amazed with the amount of improvement that Tebow has shown from the Senior Bowl until now. One group that was extremely impressed was the NFL draft committee in New York who exteneded an invitation to Tebow.

The NFL draft every year extends invitations to the top nine players that they feel will be drafted first. This year they have increased this amount to 18 players. The official list has not been released yet, but according to sources their will be four QB's invited, Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Jimmy Clausen and Tim Tebow.

The NFL draft is unvieling another new twist this year. The format of the draft has changed, instead of the first three rounds taking place on Saturday and the next four taking place on Sunday, the draft now will last three days running from Thursday to Saturday. The first round will take place Thursday night, second round Friday night and 3-7 on Saturday.

With the new format of the draft hypothetically a player could be invited to New York and not be picked in the first round and then have to come back for day two and wait for his name to be called, especially since they are inviting 18 players instead of nine. I would have to say that the chances this happens to Tebow is better than 75%. Of all the mock drafts that have been released by ESPN not one has Tebow going in the first round. It will be very interesting to see which players are invited to New York and who was not. Personally, I could name 35 players that will be drafted before Tebow. The fact that Tebow has new throwing motion and has shown huge strides in his mechanics and footwork should not get him a seat in New York. Tebow is invited because he is "Tim Tebow", not because he is one of the 18 best players coming out this year. Tebow should have declined when he was invited to the New York and let another player go that had a higher chance of being picked in the first round. Personally it will make me extremely happy to see Tebow sitting in New York by himself on Friday waiting for his name to be called.
