With spring practice just over a week away all that every one is talking about is the pending quarterback competition that will be go on during this time. Another competition that is just as interesting is that of who will be the two starting safeties for Georgia come September. Georgia lost both Reshad Jones to the NFL draft and Bryan Evans to graduation. Most of Bulldog nation was not sorry to see Evans go and their were mixed feelings about Jones. Reshad did a great job and coming on strong at the end of the season, especially against Georgia Tech, where he had a huge miss tackle the year before.
With both safety spots open fans can only start to think about who will be roving in the secondary this upcoming year. One Bulldog that has one of spots almost locked up already is Bacarri Rambo. Rambo appeared in 11 games this year recording 25 tackles, 5 pass break ups and 2 INT. Rambo is known as a fierce hitter and should make an excellent FS. The other spot on the other hand is up for grabs for whoever wants it more.
The players that will be competing for other spot will be Jakar Hamilton, Alec Olgetree, Quintin Banks, Makiri Pugh and Shawn Williams. Their has been a lot of buzz already about Hamilton since he first enrolled in January and has already became pretty good friends with Rambo. Hamilton will also have an advantage over Ogletree since Ogletree will not enroll at UGA until the fall. Hamilton had this to say about his team and competing for a starting position:
"I've really bonded with all the players, Boykin, everybody, all through the recruiting process. Rambo keeps telling me he's really happy I'm coming here; he thinks we can be the best safety duo in the SEC next year," Hamilton said. "I'm just ready to get out there. You can put me and at safety, Rambo and Olgetree at safety, me at corner - I'll even play some wide receiver if they'll let me. It's going to be wonderful to see."
However, UGA fans should not count out Ogletree just yet. He should make an immediate impact at UGA come August.

For those who think Reshad Jones was anything less than a liability in the 3 years he manned the crucial safety position, I would invite them to go back and look at the film of the last 3 years. That he finally stepped up and made a few plays at the end of his 4th year in the program was nice, but hardly defines him as a player.
Jones has the body of a good safety, but that's about all. If he gets drafted (and it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't), I suspect it'll be because some team hasn't done their homework. Reshad Jones will not play in the NFL for very long, if at all.
BTW, you're doing a great job with your website. Keep it up.
